Packers Preview: Win and In (Again)
Here we are again, win and in against a hot divisional opponent off a blowout win against Minnesota
Packers O vs Bears D
The meteoric rise continues on offense in Green Bay, with an average ranking of 9.20 in the stats I track. Conversely, Chicago averages 16.1, but much like Green Bay, they have been a unit on the rise. Whichever unit wins this head-to-head matchup will set their squad up exceptionally well.
Stat that matters: Plays per drive
For all that has been made about the big time plays Jordan Love and the Packers offense hits on, they still rank 8th in plays per drive, meanwhile Chicago is allowing the 9th fewest plays per drive. T.O.P. is always a vital stat. You control the clock, you own the game, is what I say.
The key for the Packers Offense: Keep Love Clean
The Bears' pass rush, led by deadline acquisition Montez Sweat, has been the driving force behind the Bears' rise; the Packers' offensive line has continued to be one of the best pass-blocking lines in the league this season; they will need to keep it going to win this game.
Bears O vs Packers D
The Bears' offense ranks in the top 15 points per drive, red zone percentage, and scoring percentage. At the same time, they are top 10 in plays per drive, scoring percentage, 3rd down percentage, and rush yards per attempt; while Green Bay's defense continues to have its issues, they are top 15 in red zone percentage and sack percentage. However, they are still riddled with problems.
Stat that matters: Red Zone Percentage
Both units are in the top 15 of the league, respectively; you have to win in the red zone to win a game that will likely be decided by one possession.
The key for the Packers defense: Contian Fields
It's a meme at this point; we know the Packers struggle with mobile Q.B.s, and Fields is one of the more prolific in the game today. Keep a spy on Fields and force him to beat you with his arm.
Why The Packers W.I.N.: At home against a team they have owned for the last 30 years
Why The Packers LOSE: This is entirely similar to last season: a blowout win against Minnesota followed by a loss in a win and game against a red-hot division opponent.
Prediction: Pack 27, Bears 24
Reason: Perhaps I have blinders on, but I just think Green Bay finds a way to win
