Packers/Bears Live Thread

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur enters with a record of 55-27 in 5 seasons at the helm in Green Bay; he's opposed by Matt Eberflus, the second-year Bears coach, who is 10-23 in his career; the offensive coordinator is a former Packers assistant Luke Getsy, and the defensive coordinator position is vacant following the weird departure of Alan Williams earlier this season.

Today's umpire is Brandon Cruse, the down judge is Mike Carr, Tom Eaton is the line judge, Nate Jones is the field judge, Eugene Hall is the side judge, and Martin Hankins is the back judge. The replay official is Kevin Brown, and the replay assistant is Karlton Derrick. This crew is headed up by 16th-year referee Carl Cheffers.

Packers Inactives: WR Christian Watson, RB AJ Dillon, LB Brenton Cox Jr, LB Isiah McDuffie, OT Caleb Jones, and WR Grant DuBose

Bears Key Inactives: CB Jaylon Johnson, WR Darnell Mooney, and RB D'Onta Foreman

AccuWeather gives us a game-time temperature of 35 degrees with a real feel of 28 under cloudy skies, with nine-mile-per-hour winds gusting to 15 from the WNW.

I find myself wanting this team to make the playoffs more than last year, in large part because of getting the young guys a taste of the playoffs.

Today's Packers captains: Aaron Jones, Eric Wilson, Kenny Clark

Packers Preview: Win and In (Again)

Here we are again, win and in against a hot divisional opponent off a blowout win against Minnesota Packers O vs Bears D The meteoric rise continues on offense in Green Bay, with an average ranking of 9.20 in the stats I track. Conversely, Chicago averages 16.1, but much like Green Bay, they have been a unit on the rise. Whichever unit wins this head-to-head matchup will set their squad up exceptionally well. Stat that matters: Plays per drive For all that has been made about the big time plays Jordan Love and the Packers offense hits on, they still rank 8th in plays per drive, meanwhile Chicago is allowing the 9th fewest plays per drive. T.O.P. is always a vital stat. You control the clock, you own the game, is what I say. The key for the Packers Offense: Keep Love Clean The Bears' pass rush, led by deadline acquisition Montez Sweat, has been the driving force behind the Bears' rise; the Packers' offensive line has continued to be one of the best pass-blocking lines in the...

Loookin' Pack: 48232 Woodshed, TX

In what was the most dominating win in the Matt LaFleur era and the most dominating win in the last maybe decade plus. The Packers go into Dallas and blow out the Dallas Cowboys to move onto the divisional round.  Packers first drive The Packers won the toss and elected to receive; Bland picked up an illegal contact penalty on the second play to negate a sack and give GB a first down. Two plays later, Jordan Love, cool in the pocket, fires one out to Doubs for 22 22-yard gain. Two plays later, Jones picks up a modest gain for another first. Later in the drive, Jones breaks off another big first-down run. Two plays later, Musgrave picks up a first down. The Packers cap off the opening drive with a Jones touchdown on a read option Cowboys first drive Dallas gets a first on third down. It's probably a missed hold on the Dallas left tackle, but it's moot as Dallas punts.  Packers second drive They start off with a deep attempt, but it is broken up. On third down, Love throws a see...

Who the Hell is Jeff Hafley?

Image
So you, like most, have yet to learn who Jeff Hafley is. Thankfully, it's easy to find information about a guy in today's society. Here are the main points about Jeff Hafley, the coach Aggression: The first takeaway I saw is that his defenses are aggressive. This is something I love. I am a big fan of the mindset that says, “Bleep you, we’re blitzing you, deal with it.” Mitch Wolfe of BC Eagle Insider said about Hafley: "He loves single-high/middle field closed coverages. It's pretty aggressive with blitzing. Mostly a 4-3/Even front guy but has some more diverse stuff in his bag." Basically, the common consensus is, above all else, expect a more aggressive defense in Green Bay  Press Coverage: Within an hour of his hiring, a picture of a PowerPoint from what I would assume is a BC team meeting surfaced. The particular slide leaked and broke down the key points and benefits of running press coverage. Under Joe Barry, Packers fans spent many Sundays be...
